Richard joined Döhle Yachts as Technical Yacht Manager in 2020 and was promoted to Head of Technical Management in 2025. Richard is responsible for the technical management of a number of large yachts within the fleet as well as managing the Technical team.
Richard has provided support through a number of refits, dockings, and new build projects. He undertakes technical inspections and audits, contract negotiations, budget planning, machinery upgrades and dealing with technical disputes.
Richard served in the Royal Navy as a chief petty officer marine engineering artificer, serving at sea and ashore on different Royal Navy ships and attached to various UK military assets during his 23 years of service. Richard also served with an American run unit in Iraq as part of the naval transition team, acting as an engineering mentor to the Iraqi Navy.
After leaving the Navy, Richard was employed as the operational chief engineer for the yacht builder Sunseeker International. During this time, as part of the company’s conformance team, he helped to establish its SMS, which subsequently led to Sunseeker being the first UK yacht manufacturer to be issued a Document of Compliance (DOC) from the MCA.
Richard currently holds a Y2 chief engineer’s Certificate of Competency (CoC).
