As long as Oscar can remember, he has enjoyed the sea, growing up on family sailing boats navigating around the Solent and the South West Coast of the UK, and racing dinghies competitively all over Europe from the age of 10.

Watching the larger commercial vessels entering and leaving the Solent over the years inspired Oscar to consider a career in the maritime world full-time, rather than only recreational sailing. He now desires to work towards becoming a deck officer and follow the steps of others to work in the vibrant industry he has always wanted to be involved with.

Oscar began his Döhle Yachts sposnored cadetship in 2024. Oscar is keen on the idea of working on superyachts and large passenger yachts. Eventually taking full responsibility of a vessel as captain would be a massive achievement with huge responsibilities. In the meantime, Oscar plans to complete his cadetship with a good insight into life as a commercial officer, which in turn will create many opportunities in either the commercial or yachting industries.

In 2017, Döhle Yachts became the first yacht management company to support cadets enrolled at the prestigious Warsash Maritime Academy.  Alongside Trinity House Maritime Charity, the programme aims to offer support, structure and opportunities for young people at the beginning of their careers.
