Döhle Yachts Clive Harrison and Sally Aston have completed the PYA training course on the MLC
12/10/2011
Döhle Yachts Clive Harrison and Sally Aston have completed the Professional Yachtsmen’s Association training course on the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 given by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in Monaco on 10th – 11th October.
Attendees benefited from advice on how the inspection regime may impact across the Red Ensign Group. At the seminar, as the regulator, the MCA explained how the MLC 2006 inspection regime will be applied to the UK yacht sector.
Course content was based on the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) own syllabus for MLC implementation. The programme featured practical exercises that enhanced delegate understanding of MLC. The course covered the changes to merchant shipping legislation brought in by the MLC, the format of the MLC inspection and how to prepare for Inspections, completion of the Declaration of Maritime Labour Compliance (DMLC) Part II, Onshore Complaints procedures, and Seafarer Employment Agreements.
To ensure that the seminar truly represented the tripartite nature of this ILO Convention, representatives of the UK social partners, the British Chamber of Shipping and Nautilus International also be presented at this event.
At the end of the course the MCA issued Course Attendance Certificates to Clive and Sally.
